On the Day After (a series of images)

[Ongoing Project]

This series of images shows scenes from books, movies, poems, epics, and so forth just after the original creator's intention has ended, but before the creation takes on no or new life. It is the moment of sublimation where something instantaneously changes from useful to obsolescent. One example is a movie set just after filming has wrapped; in the case of The Candy Room in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971). Another example is a narrative poem when the main character transcends their current plane or plateau of being or existence; in the case of Dante wading through Lethe and first gazing upon Beatrice in Purgatorio. At this moment, everything and nothing coexist within the same space. These scenes are reconstructed using methods of invention, recreation, imitation, and rejuvenation.
